The weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!
Those few lines from the hymn have been rolling around in my mind for weeks now, and on this historic day they mean more than ever to me!
It’s a weary world, isn’t it? It is weary of sickness, of death, of pain. For mothers like you and I, we are weary of the sin in this world that our children must grow up and struggle in. We are weary of heartbreak, disappointment, loss and shattered dreams.
We are weary of the constant pressure, the holding it together, the fear of failure, and failure itself.
I feel those things too. But the feelings of my heart are not the final authority. Mamas, don’t trust your emotions, especially when you’re weary! They will lie to you every time!
The truth is, a couple thousand years ago there was a glorious dawn! One morning, the sun rose, and light shone down on the face of one particular baby for the first time. The world was changed forever! Nothing would ever be the same!
Oh the thrill of the Hope that morning brought to the world! Only a few precious human souls were even aware of who this baby was, but at the moment of His birth, the roar in heaven was so loud that the song of angels burst through the sky!
Today, God’s people feel a thrill of hope! On this historic day, Roe vs. Wade has been overturned! Can’t you hear the roar all across our land?
Honestly, I’m not sure if I believed it would ever happen! Again, the feelings of my heart are not the final authority! All along, our God knew this day was coming! He always knew!
Also, as I know so well, everything can change in a moment. In one moment, God can turn everything around! And I believe He delights in that!
The battle in our country is not over, of course. But… A Thrill of Hope! Praise God!
Mamas, this “trust your heart” stuff is nonsense! More than that, it’s a cleverly disguised lie of Satan! I know you are weary… I know you are. But turn to the Word of God, don’t believe your weary heart.
God is in control. He is carrying you. Trust and obey… the rest is up to Him! And the victory is already won! You can do this, mama! You were made for this!
He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men may stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.Isaiah 40:30-31
