Delicious, filling, and inexpensive, homemade biscuits are a definite upgrade to the meal! I can whip out a batch of these in just a few minutes, and they bake in about 10 minutes.
This recipe yields about 3 dozen! If you have a crowd to feed, like I do, buying biscuits in a can is just not cheap. It takes 3 cans for everyone to have just one! I don’t do biscuit mix either, that’s nothing but overpriced flour and baking powder. Homemade is so much better!

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add shortening, and cut in with a pastry blender or fork, until mixture is crumbly.
- Pour in milk and eggs.

- Knead five times.
- Roll or press out dough to 1/2″ thick.
- Cut into biscuits.
- Place biscuits on a cookie sheet and bake 10-15 minutes on the center rack of oven, until tops are lightly golden.
While biscuits are hot, you can brush tops with butter if you’re feeling fancy! Serve hot with butter, jam, honey, gravy, or apple butter!
